The Screech Mascot design for the Washington Nationals was our first project for Major League Baseball Properties. At the time, the Nationals were a relatively new team and were looking to add an original mascot into the mix. We came up with a ton of sketches and several different concepts before nailing down the baby eagle concept. After a few design tweaks we finalized the design and created a series of poses, 3D character turns as well as sketched for the final Costume design. I can tell you there’s nothing like watching a game and seeing a character you designed run onto a field.
