A few years ago, as an experiment I created a set of vector images that I would attempt to sell as clipart. I uploaded them to an online marketplace and to my surprise they sold like gangbusters! Consistently. Call this a proof of concept. Because of my early success I created a few other collections which also sold. As I went about my career these assets sold every once in a while for a nice little supplemental income.
As time went on my life became quite busy working for the huge entertainment companies that I provide services to. Essentially, my freelance work took up my days and sapped my energy. As time went on not only my illustration skills grew but that of my coding and website building skills. I thought to myself “why not create my own marketplace to sell my digital assets?”. Cut out the middleman so to speak.
In 2015 I did just that and called it LCIVectorclipart.com. I made a few sales but once again my career took precedence. The site fell by the wayside… until now. I figured that I better shut the site down, redesign it and relaunch it! I also thought to myself “the more places you sell online the better”.
I set out to not only redesign the website but also create what I like to refer to as an “E-commerce network” to sell my vector assets on. This network contains about 25 well known stock image sites. After creating accounts on these sites I found software that would allow me to submit to these sites simultaneously.
I’m posting a few screenshots here of the redesigned site. It’s almost ready to go. We should relaunch by October 15th. This will give us time to complete the site and implement all the new features as well as finish up the new art collections. We will also be utilizing our animation skills to create HD videos featuring the vector assets.
